All of the carpets in our Kimono collection are hand-knotted in India with a blend of Gazni Afghan and Indian handspun wool, incorporating a high hand twisted base with a light twist in the motif giving an almost 3D effect. The base is made from hand-spun wool and the motif is machine spun this unique combination of weaving is an original developed by Nature’s Looms. Using this combination gives this collection not only a 3D effect but a silky feel as well, completely unique. An original design concept. The Kimono is the traditional clothing in Japan. Kimono styles have changed in Japan over a period of time. Our “Kimono” design is most closely modeled after the kimono of the Edo period around 1601-1867 A.D. During this time period better dyeing techniques were developed, and they were now made of multicolored, highly decorated fabric. |

Large Size Red Kerman Persian Oriental Area Rug 10x13 Wool

From the city of that name in southern Persia, the incredible Kerman carpet is a soft treasure, and among the most beautiful designs woven. The traditional motif has the main border and central medallion in an intricately-detailed, ornate architectural or floral theme in the palest pastels with white-and-gold trim. This typically contrasts with an open field of a rich solid cranberry red, navy blue or other strong colors. Others patterns include the finer Lavar style with garden, tree-of-life, vase and all-over mille fleur designs, or the many pictorials which tell the story of a significant figure or event in history. Silk is almost never used. |
